Powder coating
We have completely abandoned using powder coating, and would definitely advise against using this method, as it is a plastic product and cannot be post-treated, or painted or stained over in the event of damage to the paintwork, for example. In this case, the plastic coating must be removed completely, either by sandblasting or burned away before it can be painted on the steel. This is a very expensive process.

WHAT IS HOT GALVANIZING ?

Hot dip galvanizing is a process designed to prevent steel from corroding and rusting.

Before the galvanizing process starts, the steel goes through a thorough chemical cleaning that removes all rust, oil and glow flakes from the surface. Once the cleaning process has been completed and the cleaning solution has been rinsed off, the coating process can begin.

The steel is dipped in a bath of molten zinc that has been heated to approximately 460°C (860°F). The steel is then removed from the bathroom and cooled in a cooling tank. When the cooling process is finished, the zinc coating is metallurgically bonded to the steel.

Therefore, hot galvanizing is unique; No other type of coating has this feature, and as a result, galvanized steel has by far the greatest resistance to mechanical damage during handling, storage, transportation, and construction – an important factor in which steel work is to be shipped around the world.

A complete cover is formed by dipping steel in molten zinc, in which all parts of the surface are coated with zinc - inside, outside, awkward corners and narrow openings that would be impossible to protect otherwise.

The coating actually tends to build up in vital corners and edges – rather than thinning out as by spraying or dipped in other coatings.

ArtSteel provides a 15-year warranty against rusting when the product is hot galvanized. With 2-component Jotun Hard Top primer and lacquer, fences/gates and furniture/interiors etc. with proper maintenance will last forever.

You do not have to sand away rust when the surface paint, after 15-20 years, has weathered, you just need to sand lightly over old paint and paint over with new surface paint when the time comes for renovation.

In reality, a product that is hot-dip galvanized will have a durability that will last for many generations.
